| The Maryland Art League, Inc. is a non-profit organization of approximately 70 artists working in a wide variety of media such as painting, photography, pottery, porcelain, sculpture, weaving, collage, jewelry and stained glass. We sponsor lectures, trips, workshops, critiques, and demonstrations to promote a deeper understanding and appreciation of visual arts. In addition to offering a friendly venue for exchanging ideas, we also offer opportunities for artists to exhibit their works through juried art exhibitions (see Exhibitions.)
A monthly newsletter outlining programs, exhibitions, member activities and opportunities for artists is sent to each member; copies of recent and the current newsletters may be accessed from this site (see Newsletters.) There are 8 meetings a year from September to June, normally on the third Monday of the month. Each meeting has a formal program, usually an invited speaker, a social period, and refreshments. All meetings are free and open to the public, and we hope that interested artists will visit us to see if they will benefit from membership. Meetings are held at the Howard County Center For The Arts, 8510 High Ridge Rd. in Ellicott City, Maryland (See Directions.) Membership in the Maryland Art League, Inc. is open to artists 18 and older. Associate Memberships are available to anyone with an interest in art-related activities. - Annual Membership - $30.00 - Associate Membership - $20.00 Screenings for new members are held several times throughout the year. Work must be original in concept and execution, and must be professionally presented. If you are interested in participating, please contact us; you may also download an application form (see Membership Info.) The Maryland Art Leage is a member of the American Frame Alliance Program (www.americanframe.com) and as such receives an annual contribution and offers a 5% discount when members supply a key code. (Contact the president or treasurer for the key code.) |
